Chicken vepudu


Ingredients:

  • 500g chicken
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tomato, finely chopped
  • 1" fresh ginger root
  • 3 garlic flakes
  • 1 tsp peppercorns
  • 1 tsp chilli powder or to taste
  • 1 tsp coriander powder
  • 1/4 tsp turmeric powder
  • 1 tsp mustard seeds
  • salt to taste
  • 2 tbsp oil
  • few curry leaves
  • few coriander leaves
Method:
  1. Cut the chicken into bite size pieces, wash and drain the water.
  2. Make a paste with ginger, garliv and peppercorns.
  3. Take a vessel and add the washed chicken pieces, chilli powder, coriander powder, turmeric powder, salt and very little amount of water.
  4. Cook on medium flame for 20 mins or till the chicken become tender.
  5. Now heat a pan with oil and add mustard seeds.
  6. When they start to pop add curry leaves and chopped onions.
  7. Saute till they turn into golden yellow colour.
  8. Add chopped tomatoes and ginger garlic paste.
  9. Saute till the raw smell disappears.
  10. Now add the cooked chicken pieces along with the water.
  11. Mix well and cook on medium low flame for further 10-15 mins.
  12. Finally adjust salt and garnish with coriander leaves.
  13. Now your easy and tasty chicken vepudu is ready to serve.
  14. Serve hot with plain white rice, sambar rice, Biryani, etc...
